Cornish Sardines - Cornish Sardine Management Association

Although we pride ourselves on sourcing our own fish (Bluefin Tuna) and shellfish (Native Oysters) whenever possible, in some cases that is neither practical (not licensed for a particular species) nor an efficient use of our time (when other have much better access to fishing methods), so we collaborate with specialists in other industries.

In the case of Cornish Sardines, which are sustainably managed by the Cornish Sardine Management Association (CMSA), and in most cases Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) accredited, we feel they are the best way to source the freshest sardines, and when they are at the best time for sustainable management. Although we cannot use the MSC logo as we are not registered with the 'Chain of Custody' program, but they are sourced by MSC accredited vessels and in most cases supplied to us by Fal Fish, who do have the chain of custody.

In 2025 we met with a member of the CMSA and gave him a can of our sardines, he immediately invited us to have a stall at the inaugural Cornish Sardine Festival in Newlyn over the August Bank Holiday in 2025, and we jumped at the opportunity!

We also jumped at the opportunity to produce several new recipes (see top row in photo), using the stunning silver darlings, and launch them at the festival.

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Tabasco Sweet & Spicy
  • Tabasco Sriracha

We then approached several Cornish producers of delicious Cornish sauces using genuine Cornish ingredients, these include:

We launched this new product range (see here) at the Cornish Sardine Festival, August 23rd & 24th
